  • Andrea was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid and a goiter at the age of 28 and the doctor recommended that they radiate her thyroid and put her on medication for the rest of her life. She believed that her diet and lifestyle were the root cause and ignored the doctor’s advice.
  • After correcting her diet and lifestyle, Andrea’s goiter and hyperthyroidism disappeared after 24 months and it turned out that she was suffering from Hashimoto’s disease, which was the real issue.
  • If it is an autoimmune disease, the symptoms will change from day to day. We are not taught to slow down and observe the effects on our body, but the body works at a slower pace than we would like.
  • One of the main reasons hyperthyroidism is more common today is that the majority of people were not breastfed as children. The colostrum from the mother’s milk is the installation of the immune system in a child’s body which many people are missing.
  • Babies that are not breastfed have higher rates of disease. We are also surrounded by manmade non-ionizing and ionizing radiation and the thyroid is very sensitive to radiation. Without enough food grade iodine in our systems, the thyroid becomes more vulnerable.
  • Andrea recommends seaweed to increase the amount of iodine in your system; the slimy texture of seaweed is what coats the digestive system and allows you to observe the iodine without inflaming your condition.
  • Natural fats and proteins are also good for supporting your digestive and endocrine system. The human body is a complex system and we can’t isolate a single food type and create a diet around only that. When one system is out of balance, it indicates that the whole body is out of balance because everything is connected.
  • Without a thyroid, your body still needs to process the hormone which means you have to rely on the liver. One of the most important ways to support the endocrine system is by reducing stress on the whole. A high amount of stress puts pressure on every system in the body.
  • Allow yourself to wake up but then put your body back into a state of relaxation; stretch and breath before starting your day.
  • Herbal medicine is another natural option for treating your thyroid. Herbs and foods that are extremely nutritive give the body the energy it needs to support the underlying systems.
