Main Questions Asked:

  • Where should we start when it comes to detoxing our body and mind?
  • What are some tips that you can give us to deal with the root cause?
  • Do you have any other tips or suggestions for detoxing the mind?
  • Is there anything we haven’t covered yet?

Key Points Made by Josh:

  • We should treat the body and mind as one unit. Many people forget about how the mind can be exposed to toxins.
  • Our perceptions produce a cocktail of chemicals in our bodies that can either promote healing and growth or inhibit it.
  • Negative emotions like fear and anger give signals to our cells that are a function of our autonomic nervous system.
  • We are often in a fight or flight state due to modern life which can prevent your body’s ability to detoxify.
  • The bulk of health is getting to the root cause of the problem.
  • We are bombarded with chemicals but also with emotional triggers throughout the day.
  • The number one tip is to keep breathing. Thinking about breathing and deepening it allows us to tap into the sympathetic nervous system. A simple exercise of four seconds in and four seconds out is a good way to start. The best time to breath is whenever you think you will remember it.
  • Heart rate variability exercises can also be useful.
  • There are passive and active ways to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, it’s about finding what way works best for you.
  • Relationships are an important aspect of detoxing the mind. Are you energized after spending time with someone or do you feel drained? A lot of negative emotions get locked in the body.
  • “Don’t let other people live in your head rent free.”
  • You can’t change the past but you can change how you perceive the past.
  • Dealing with negative emotions can lead to incredible physical results.
  • Look at your environment, control as many of the environmental factors as you can so that you limit the negative ways you can be affected. Calm music, dim lighting, adding nature to your artificial space can help. Get outside more often.
  • Everyone either consciously or subconsciously will find ways to deal with their stress. Find a constructive way to deal with stress and add it to your day.
