Main Questions Asked:

  • Where do essential oils come from?
  • How do we know if we’re buying a good quality essential oil?
  • How can essential oils help us mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually?
  • Does it matter if essential oils are heated or not?
  • What’s the difference between an essential oil and a fragrance?
  • How can we use essential oils for natural cleaning products?

Key Points made by Dr. Janae:

  • Essential oils are the aroma molecules of plants. They’re also the protection mechanism and the immune system of the plant.
  • Essential oils can be used medicinally to heal the body, as well as for mental, emotional, and even spiritual healing.
  • Orange essential oil can be used to lift your mood, and can help with attracting abundance into your life.
  • Most essential oils are made from a process of distillation.
  • One drop of peppermint essential oil is the same potency as 25 cups of peppermint tea.
  • It takes 65 pounds of rose pedals to make only one tablespoon of rose essential oil.
  • There’s three different ways to use essential oils: breathe them in (safest); use them topically (also safe); some can be used internally (use caution here).
  • Rosemary essential oil can help with memory, recall, and alertness.
  • Both rosemary and peppermint oils can be used for an energy boost and to get off of caffeine.
  • Because they are fat soluble, essential oils can pass directly and easily into your cells and brain.
  • Lavender is very relaxing and can be used for depression, anxiety, and insomnia.
  • Lavender has also been proven to dramatically reduce your stress levels.
  • All essential oils have an energetic signature – this can be seen with Kirlian photography.
  • Helichrysum can be used for pain – physical pain or emotional pain.
  • Most essential oils are heat sensitive so it’s not good to heat them up.
  • Essential oils and fragrances are not the same. Fragrances are made in a lab synthetically and even though it may smell the same it doesn’t contain any of the medicinal properties that the essential oil would.
  • Look for essential oils that are organic and medicinal grade.
  • Non-toxic disinfectant cleaner: In an 8 ounce squirt bottle put one ounce of vodka (100 proof), 7 ounces of distilled water, and 50 drops of essential oil – a great smelling and powerful disinfectant combination is eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, and orange oil.
